Youre right – you need to get experience of acting. No movie or big / legit casting agency will take you without experience and a lot of it. Classes are good for learning and networking, but also think about expanding your skills further –
For a start you could
- get involved in school plays
- make some youtube films
- contact your local library/ community centre/ theatres to find out if there are any amateur or community groups you could join. These are a great way to get experience performing in public, and learning all kinds of skills. Plus in my experience sometimes when a film or TV company are filming in the area, they contact local theatre groups like these for extras and walk-ons, which is often paid work, and another great way to get experience.

You can also look for auditions for films and TV on sites like www.mandy.com, but if you go to an audition, make sure you take a parent or guardian along!

Then, when you have a bit of experience, and have got some professional casting photos done (not usually cheap though, you get those by approaching a professional portrait photographer, there are plenty in the phone book wherever you are ) you can consider approaching agencies.
